It’s similar to mint.com but more advanced and gives their users more options. Mint’s budgeting service’s are fairly basic and isn’t a very good tool for investment planning. Personal Capital has all the features of Mint and more. Like Mint, Personal Capital tracks your budgeting and spending, but they do a much better job of tracking investments and exploring better financial planning methods, like income tax planning and asset allocation.
How it Works
First, you need to start a free account with Personal Capital. After you start a free account, you can then link all of your financial accounts to your Personal Capital account. After you link your accounts, they’ll remain linked unless you decide to unlink them. Personal Capital will then update your account every day.
The service then takes all your information and linked accounts and merges the information together giving you one big snapshot. You’re then able to see exactly what you financial situation is. They’ll make and provide you with personalized charts and graphs, which will give you an entire overview of your financial situation.
