How to Create a Website and Launch It In 21 Days

I started this blog, Oddball Wealth, in December 2014, exactly two-years ago. It was right after I had graduated college and was in the process of finding a career. No longer having a course load, I had a bunch of free time and happened to pick up called book The 4-Hour Workweek, by Tim Ferriss.

It was that book which inspired me to start this site, even though I didn’t have a single clue how to start or make a website. To be honest I didn’t have a clear idea of what a blog even was at the time. The terms web host and domain name were also foreign to me.

I had to teach myself everything. From website development, to graphic design, to internet marketing, to writing and publishing content. It took a lot of work and time, but I became somewhat obsessed with building this site and making it what it is today.

I worked on this site almost every day for two years straight and it honestly amazes me how much I’m still learning today. The number of mistakes I made were countless, including horrible SEO errors and keyword errors. But, I learned a lot from those mistakes.

The past two-years I spent building Oddball Wealth, writing blog posts, and engaging with other like-minded bloggers have flew by. But, looking back at where I started and where I took this blog to make it into what it is today is pretty amazing when I take the time to think about it.

From not knowing a thing about website development, blogging, SEO, or online business – to knowing more than the average person and even monetizing my blog to make a healthy passive income. This site has been much more than just a hobby, but also a huge learning tool for me.

If I would have known what I know now back when I started Oddball Wealth, I truly believe it would have only taking me “months” to build this site into what it is today instead of “years.”

To test this theory, I’ve decided to do an experiment to test my knowledge and what I’ve learn over the years while building and growing this blog, by building an entirely new website from the ground up.

Using the knowledge, I’ve acquired over the years working on Oddball Wealth, I should be able to speed through the website development process and avoid many of the costly and time consuming mistakes I’ve made in the past.

I plan on documenting the entire process here on Oddball Wealth. From the initial development stage, to the pre-launch stage, to the launch stage, to post launch stages and periodical updates over time.

You’ll be able to follow me every step of the way, find out what works and what doesn’t work. How I plan to acquire traffic and visitors to my site, and how I plan to monetize my new site.

New Site Launch Deadline

So what’s my timeline for launching this site?

Truth is I’m really excited about this project and that excitement has given me a lot of motivation. So I’ve decided to set the launch date for January 1st, 2017!

This is an extremely ambitious launch deadline considering the site is currently non-existent and that its already December 11th.

This only gives me 21-days exactly to put a strategy in place, purchase a domain name and web hosting service, build the site, and write all the pre-launch content.

Realistically, with such a short deadline I may be setting myself up for failure. But the hell with reality! With a little sweat, hard work, faith, and you guys to hold me accountable, I think it can be done.

This should be a fun and educational journey. I really want to encourage you guys to leave any feedback or tips you might have. I’ll need all the help and advice I can get.

I’m really excited to see how it all of this turns out and I hope you are too!
